On this page you can find templates that you can adapt and use on your Group’s social media channels.
Review summaries
Often referred to as ‘blogshots’ in the Cochrane community, these templates can be used to produce quick summaries of reviews to be shared on social media and beyond. They can be adapted for the review you want to focus on.
We have provided two formats, one for Groups that use or have access to Canva, and one for Groups who prefer to edit in Powerpoint.
LinkedIn, X, Bluesky, Facebook
This format is optimal for LinkedIn and Bluesky but can also be used on X or Facebook.
This template can be used as a carousel on Instagram.
Guidance for using our review summary templates
Do
- Use a logo that is clearly visible against the background. Make sure there is enough contrast between the logo and the image, avoiding white logos on light backgrounds or dark logos on dark backgrounds.
- Make sure all images fit within the designated image placeholders and fully fill the available space without leaving gaps.
- Keep the text in the first section concise, with a maximum of 70 words, and maintain the sizes of text boxes.
- Include the certainty of the evidence using one of the following categories: high, moderate, low, or very low.
- Use the review title or Plain Language Summary title as the main heading.
- Include key findings for all reported outcomes, including any identified harms or adverse effects where relevant.
- Use imagery that is clinically accurate, appropriate, and inclusive, and that does not risk causing offence.
- Check that all text is accurate, easy to read, and free from spelling or grammatical errors.
- Remove the social media icons of any channels you do not use.
- Use the full URL for links to your website. Avoid using URL shortening services like Bitly.
- Use your social media handle for each social media platform you use to the corresponding social media platform icon. (e.g. @cochranecollab)
Don't
- Do not stretch, squash, or distort images. Always maintain the original aspect ratio.
- Do not move, resize, delete, or add text boxes, icons, or image placeholders within the template.
- Do not change the font style, font size, text formatting, or text placement.
- Do not alter the colours used in the review summary template.
- Do not exceed the maximum word count in the first content section or widen text boxes.
- Do not omit information about evidence certainty, benefits, harms, or key outcome findings.
- Do not use imagery that is misleading, clinically inaccurate, stereotypical, or potentially offensive.
- Do not place logos where they become difficult to see or compete with other visual elements.
- Do not leave empty social media icons. Remove the icons of the platforms you do not use.
- Do not shorten website links. Maintain the full length of the URL for accessibility.
- Do not use website links by the social media icons; include your social media handle instead (e.g. @cochranecollab).

- Images are correctly sized and not distorted.
- Logos are clearly visible and have sufficient contrast.
- No template fonts, sizes, colours, layouts, or image placeholders have been modified.
- URLs are full and not shortened
- Social media icons are included only for the platforms you are currently using, with their corresponding handles.
