Please give additional activity details (i.e., reach, impact, duration, return on investment) A member of Cochrane Balearic Islands contributed to a systematic review and network meta-analysis evaluating the efficacy and safety of oral treatments for allergic rhinitis in children. The review synthesised evidence from randomised controlled trials and compared oral antihistamines and leukotriene receptor antagonists, both at treatment-class and individual-treatment levels. Oral antihistamines were more effective than placebo in improving nasal symptoms, while combining them with leukotriene receptor antagonists did not demonstrate additional benefit. No important differences between individual oral antihistamines were identified, and no significant differences in the frequency of adverse events were observed. However, evidence remained scarce and certainty was low or very low for most comparisons. The study was conducted to inform the ARIA 2024–2025 guidelines on allergic rhinitis treatment.
