The “Internship in Cochrane Indonesia” is a collaborative academic program for 12 seventh-semester medical students of Faculty Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, Universitas Gadjah Mada
designed to strengthen competencies in evidence-based medicine, research methodology, project management, and community engagement. Running from July to September, the program integrates three experiential learning pathways—one-on-one mentoring in developing a systematic review draft, project-based training in managing Cochrane Indonesia’s translation workflow, and community service projects to disseminate translated Plain Language Summaries—through which students gain hands-on experience in formulating research questions, conducting literature searches, performing study selection and data extraction, managing translation processes, and implementing public health outreach initiatives. Combining structured supervision, hybrid learning formats, and portfolio-based assessment, the internship ensures that participants develop practical research and managerial skills, contribute meaningfully to evidence dissemination, and are well prepared for future roles as research-oriented and community-focused medical professionals.
